Pressure piping and suction piping for filter systems. The bend has a streamlined design with a large radius for a better transportation of the dust. The centrifugal fan creates high overpressures and low-pressures that must be accommodated by the piping system without excessive deformation. Flange connections are required for the assembly and are to be provided by the customer. These allow for an easy exchange of individual components in case of later wear and tear.

Depending on the application, exhaust gas lines are often operated under temperatures between 200° - 600°C. The material for the lines must be chosen based on the parameters: temperature, pressure, strength, and corrosion demands. The pipe or duct must be able to handle the linear expansions caused by these temperatures. For this, expansion joints and a combination of floating and fixed bearings are needed. Calculations for the piping network and a structural analysis are necessary for the planning and the drawings.

Exhaust air containing components of solvents may not be emitted into the atmosphere without going through a post treatment system. Two factors play an important role here: the regulatory limits to be complied with and the prevention of unpleasant odours. The piping system connects the components of the post treatment facility. Due to the different ranges in temperatures, expansion joints, and fixed and floating bearings must be built in so that the facility can be connected to the steel base frame free of tension.

Pipe lines used for chemicals are designed in stainless steel. Depending on the corrosion load, simple or high-quality stainless steel, for example 1.4539, is chosen. Alternatively, additional interior coatings are an option, provided that the medium is not abrasive and the operating temperature is not too high. Expansion joints – shown in this project as stainless steel expansion joints – must be accurately specified with respect to required radial and lateral absorption of movement. This is, among other things, a result of the piping network calculations.

Industrial fans – especially centrifugal fans – create average to large volumes of air with high pressures. In order to best technically and economically dimension the pipe and duct networks, exact specifications of the operating conditions are needed: medium, amount of over- and low-pressures, temperature and tightness requirements.  The system is planned on site and factors in such things as process data, air volume, duct cross-sections and components such as filters or heat exchangers. The pipe and duct systems are designed and produced based on all of these factors.

The pipe system consists of various divider pipes that connect tanks with different components of the facility – e.g. ventilators, heat exchanger, absorber, catalyser, UV reactor. The challenge here is that the divider pipes have varying degrees of temperature and that the operating status can also fluctuate. The facility is planned by the customer (including choice of material and dimensions). LBF completes the plans by deciding on the thickness of the sheet, the expansion joints, floating bearings, slide bearings, fixed bearings, as well as thermal decoupling.
